The 2007 ICE! attraction is currently under construction. This year's theme is "A Holiday Road Trip." What can guests expect to see this year?
Pre-Show: Take a trip down "Snow Way" and learn more about the work behind this year's ICE! attraction.
Frozen Florida: The first stop inside the 9-degree "Florida Fridge" features an igloo. That's right, the something is wrong in the Sunshine State... or, at best, we took a wrong turn somewhere. But inside this full-sized igloo, guests find a special welcome greeting from under the sea.
Winter Wonderland: Exiting the igloo, guests will find themselves in a winter wonderland, the next stop on our road trip. Here, you'll find a collection of critters who are enjoying the freshly fallen snow. Stepping inside this scene's beautiful gazebo might be a magical experience for some... a new wedding proposal program could result in a block of ice on the finger of a bride who surely has cold feet!
Frostproof Express: All Aboard! This enormous oversized train is created with a vibrant palette of colored ice. This is no exhibit... this is a full-scale locomotive... where you can walk inside its cars, and peek out of the windows at passersby.
Across from the locomotive is a train depot photo op, where guests can peer through a holiday wreath on the wall... resulting in the perfect Christmas card photo!
Candy Land: Our next stop appears to have come from one of America's most popular children's board games! It looks so good, you'll want to eat it up... literally!
A gigantic candy house, with its sugar-coated architecture, is the center of attention. Climb up the ramp and get a view from above, before walking through this cold colossal candy creation.
The Nativity: This is the reason for the season! One of our guests favorite scenes is this amazing depiction of the birthplace of Christ, created in crystal-clear ice and dramatic white lighting.
This scene, the only creation that has been repeated every year since the inception of the attraction, has been redesigned to become more immersive for visitors.
Guests will feel as if they have entered into the middle of this magic moment, surrounded by the scenes inhabitants, including a 12-foot tall angel.
A stirring new narrative track and dramatic lighting have been added, to further share the story of the birth of Christ.
Penguin Pointe:
In the middle of this "mountainous" scene, guests can climb the stairs (made of ice but covered in carpeting), and choose from three ice slides. One slide is the largest in the attraction's history, measuring five feet taller, and 30 feet longer! This year's largest scene, created from nearly one million pounds of ice, is sure to be the most thrilling stop on the road trip! This scene is home to an entire colony of penguins... and they are everywhere.
Penguin Pointe is also the location of one of two webcams, allowing websurfers a chance to take a peek at the Florida fun! [more on this later!]
The North Pole: After emerging from a secret tunnel inside Penguin Pointe, guests find themselves magically transformed half way around the world... to the North Pole. In this finale, Santa and his friends are perfectly positioned for photo ops!
ICE! House Gifts: In the true tradition of Orlando attractions, guests exit into a giftshop. But this shop is one of O-town's most complete holiday emporiums... jam packed with great ornaments, gifts and souvenirs!
The Icicle Singers: This group with the golden voices -- and silver tongues -- takes you on a musical journey through the holidays.
Santa's Claus: The next stop? A visit to Santa Claus. Children who have embraced the digital age can also text their holiday wishes to Santa via email... and receive a response, too!
Train Town: A new holiday train display (presented by MTH Electric Trains) will take you on a magical journey, in small scale.
Christmas in Florida - The County Wreath Collection: A trip through the diverse counties of Florida, from coast to coast!
Luminescence - A Holiday Fantasy: A rock-inspired trip through the holiday season, complete with an aerialist suspended from the soaring glass roof of the Gaylord Palms atrium.
Hidden Holiday Gnome Hunt, featuring The Roaming Gnome: The trip continues through St. Augustine, Key West and The Everglades inside the Gaylord Palms atrium, where guests can search for dozens of cleverly hidden gnomes. [Watch closely -- there is even a gnome frozen somewhere inside a block of ICE!]
"Cocoa Beach" Cocoa: The final stop... a warm cup of cocoa. All visitors to ICE! are given a coupon for a cup cocoa in the St. Augustine atrium.
